Sleep Problems Rarely Happen in Isolation
Sleep and mental health are closely connected — anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma can all disrupt sleep, and poor sleep can make those same conditions harder to manage. Some patients struggle with straightforward insomnia. Others experience somniphobia, an intense fear of sleep itself, or find themselves wide awake with racing thoughts the moment their head hits the pillow.

Our Approach to Sleep Disorder Care
Evaluation starts with listening. We take a full history of your sleep patterns and how they connect to the rest of your mental health, so treatment is built around you.
Thorough evaluation
Identifies what's driving sleep issues, since anxiety and depression often show up as sleep problems first.
Sleep study referrals
When a physical cause, like sleep apnea, is suspected and needs specialized testing.
Therapy referrals
CBT-I, a gold-standard, non-medication approach to chronic sleep problems.
Mood-stabilizing medication
Follow-up visits every two weeks while medications are introduced or adjusted.
We currently treat individuals age 8 and older — from children with bedtime anxiety to adults who've been running on empty for years.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is somniphobia the same thing as insomnia?
No. Insomnia means you want to sleep but can't. Somniphobia means you're afraid of sleep itself, or of what might happen while you're asleep. They can overlap, but they're treated a bit differently.
Do you treat both children and adults for sleep disorders?
Yes. We currently treat individuals age 8 and older.
Will I need a sleep study?
Not always. A sleep study is typically only needed if we suspect a physical cause, like sleep apnea, that requires specialized testing. Many sleep-related concerns we see are connected to anxiety, mood, or racing thoughts and don't require one.
Is sleep disorder treatment done in-person or virtually?
Our psychiatric appointments are conducted in-person to support the highest quality of care, and we also offer virtual appointment options.
